MEDFORD, Ore. – A 3-run 9th inning doomed the Medford Rogues (17-14) against Yakima Valley (20-11) Sunday. The 4-3 loss pushed Medford three full games behind Corvallis in the West Coast League South Division. Medford appeared sluggish after a six-game road trip and a flat tire that delayed their ride home two hours Sunday morning. Brandon Ericson was masterful for seven innings, allowing only one run on three hits while striking out four, but Shane Quarterly gave up a 2-run double to WCL batting leader Vince Fernandez before allowing an RBI groundout to JC Snyder, which proved to be the winning run. The narrow defeat was Medford’s 11th 1-run loss out of 14 total losses on the season. The series between Yakima Valley and Medford continues Monday night at Harry & David Field with a start time of 6:35 PM.
