Rogue Valley Remembers September 11th

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – There are several ways the solemn anniversary is being marked.

At 6:45 a.m., on the steps of Ashland Fire & Rescue Fire Station 1, the Department offered a moment of silence and bell ceremony. The VA Dom will have free live music for veterans, their families and the community at 7:00 p.m.

Around 11:30 a.m., dozens of firefighters from Jackson and Josephine Counties will gather to climb stairs of the region’s tallest building as a way to acknowledge the sacrifice made by emergency responders climbing the stairs of the World Trade Center Towers.

Flags across the state and country are lowered by order of the President of the United States in recognition of Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance.
