ASHLAND, Ore. – The national holiday isn’t until Monday, but roughly 2,000 people showed to celebrate Earth Day in Ashland today
Festivities included live performances, kids entertainment, vendors and booths, demonstrations, and even breakdancing.
The event is now in its 12th year. Organizers say it has grown from just a few hundred attendees in its first year to a few thousand.
“It’s just a time to bring together people in a fun environment. It builds community. And it inspires people to make change in their lifestyle,” said Event Coordinator Paige Prewett.
The theme for this year’s festival is Take The Next Step. Organizers say they want attendees to focus on little things they can do to change their habits.
They say planning for next year’s event begins in November.
