Rim Drive Begins Opening at Crater Lake

CRATER LAKE, Ore. — The North Entrance Road in Crater Lake National Park is now open for travel.

Park workers say this is an exceptionally early opening for the north entrance, mostly because of the warm temperatures and low snow pack. Some snow still remains on the ground at park headquarters – and snow depth is greater in some places around the rim.

National Park Service snow removal crews are now focusing their efforts on opening other parts of the park and the complete rim drive.
