RIDDLE, Ore. — Thousands of firefighters in a camp near Riddle are working on the Douglas Complex. Despite the numbers, the camp is able to provide the basics as well as some “creature comforts” for the men and women stationed there.
“They’re well fed, they have showers, they have everything as simple as a charging station so they can charge their mobile phones and keep in touch with their family and friends,” ODF Public Information Officer, Joe Touchstone, said. “So we do as much as we can to make this somewhat of a home away from home.”
The president of the Ladies Fire Auxiliary in Riddle has teamed up with Fred Meyer to get the camps even more supplies.
“If we can do anything at all, any little thing that can help them, you know, I’d be glad and I know that the community will help them out,” Yvette Powell with the Ladies Auxiliary said.
