Residents Attend Sheriff’s Forum

SheriffMERLIN, Ore. — Josephine County residents are getting the chance to learn more about the three men running for sheriff this May.

The North Valley Community Watch of Merlin is hosting a forum at the high school’s commons. The session is centered around public safety and current funding issues in the county.

“We want to support our government, and we want the people to come here and learn as much about the issues as they possibly can. So on May 20th, which is the Primary, they can come and make an informed decision about who they want to lead them out of ‘this’ mess; and for the next for years of public safety success,” said North Valley Community Watch’s Ken Selig.

Grants Pass Police officer Dave Daniel and Josephine County Sheriff’s deputy Ed Vincent are challenging Sheriff Gil Gilbertson on the May ballot.

The forum is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ballots for this election must be turned in by 8 p.m. on the 20th of May.

Tonight’s forum was excellent. It showed that the citizens of the North Valley area care about being educated before they cast their vote, and the forum certainly educated us! THANK YOU Ken Selig and the North Valley Community Watch for sponsoring this.
