ASHLAND, Ore. — A man is dead after the car crashes into a power pole in Ashland.
At around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, officials received reports of a car traveling at a high rate of speed. The car had crashed into power pole at intersection of Ashland Street and Siskyou Blvd.
Two people were inside the car. The passenger, identified as Christine Lee Kuehu, was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center, but Ashland Fire & Rescue officials could not confirm her condition. The driver was identified as Salvatore Antonio Pippa III.
Officials say power went out right at the time of the crash. Ashland Fire and Rescue say the power outages occurred right near the intersection of Ashland Street and Siskiyou Blvd., near the 7-11 and SOU campus. Power was also out at the high school and the middle school overnight.
The Ashland Police Department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
