ASHLAND, Ore. – U.S. Representative Greg Walden is in the Rogue Valley as part of a five-day tour of District 2.
Representative Walden sat down with Adroit’s team, talking about the company’s concerns and efforts. The representative says he wanted to get an idea of how the construction industry is doing in Southern Oregon.
Adroit says it’s seen a small uptick in construction. However, it has around 100 workers, which is about fifty fewer employees then it had pre-recession. Representative Greg Walden is hoping to take local business leader’s stories of success and struggle back to Washington D.C.
Half a dozen Adroit workers sat around a table with the congressman, each voicing their own concerns, such as how to pay for unemployment, health care and about being cut out of certain projects set aside by the government for small businesses.
On Wednesday, the congressman is planning to head to Grants Pass, where he’ll talk about the funding crisis the sheriff’s office is dealing with and the future of the timber payments.
