Relief Money To Go To Debris Clean-Up

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A federal disaster relief package, earmarked for victims of Superstorm Sandy, will also include money to help clear West Coast beaches of debris from the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

It is unclear at this point how much of the relief money will go to the West Coast. Alaska’s two senators requested up to $20 million for debris cleanup.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will be in charge of distributing those funds.
