Regional Crime Statistics For 2012

MEDFORD, Ore. — There were five times more homicides in Siskiyou County in 2012, compared to the yearly average. The Siskiyou Sheriff’s Department said on average, deputies investigate one homicide a year.

In the city of Medford, assaults, burglaries and drug offenses are up more than 20%, but these are only statistics for 11 months; January through November for 2012. The police chief believes those areas of crime will not increase dramatically once December’s stats are included.

“Except for behavioral crimes cause the last couple of days of the year, are usually pretty busy for us with behavioral crimes, DUI’s, intoxication type of offenses you usually see rise at the end of the year,” said Medford Police Chief Tim George.

Medford Police said it will take about two weeks before statistics for December are in.
