MEDFORD, Ore. — George Zimmerman’s trial continued on Monday with Travon Martin’s father taking the stand.
A group of Martin supporters showed up in Medford to show their solidarity with the teenager shot and killed in Florida. The supporters said this case carries more importance than the Rodney King and O. J. Simpson cases.
“The reason I think this is beyond that is because this is a young man. This is our future, pretty much. What people don’t understand is that, that one kid you see with his pants sagging could just save your life as a doctor one day,” said supporter Eddie Pratt.
About a dozen supporters showed up Monday evening at Fichtner Mainwaring Park in Medford wearing hoodies and some carrying Skittles like what Martin was said to have when he was killed. Organizers say they are spreading the word for more people to turn out for an even bigger photo opportunity next Wednesday, July 17th at 7:00 pm.
