An area of low pressure just to our south and east is bring cloud cover and rain/snow showers to the forecast area this morning. Snow is on the ground in Silver Lake, Crater Lake and Diamond Lake. This has been confirmed through webcams/pictures but it’s likely snow has coated the ground in many other locations of the East Side, Cascades and Siskiyou & Modoc Counties.
The snow level is between 3,500′-4,000′ which is supporting mainly snow showers over the region this morning. Rain and snow showers will be ongoing through the morning, and then taper off over West Side areas before tapering off by this evening across the mountains, Klamath Basin and Siskiyou County. High temperatures are going to be below average today, and significantly cooler than last week. With the current disturbance over the region, breezy conditions are expected through the afternoon in those locations that typically see high winds — the East Side, higher elevations and Coast.
Dry weather will return tomorrow and much of the week will remain quiet, just cool. Halloween is going to be mostly sunny across the board. Into the weekend, another rain and snow event will move in. This will drop snow levels to 5,000′ and will likely bring the bulk of precipitation in for Saturday, with lingering showers Sunday.
