ASHLAND, Ore. — Austin Dodge threw five touchdown passes and Southern Oregon scored 55 unanswered points as the Raiders beat #18 MSU-Northern 55-28 Saturday at Raider Stadium. The game got off to an unusually slow start for the Raiders, who led just 10-7 at the half. SOU came out on fire in the third quarter though, scoring four touchdowns on its first five drives of the second half.
Dodge once again led the Raiders offense with 469 yards to go along with his five scores. The quarterback scared the SOU fans, though, suffering a lower leg injury in the third quarter. Dodge was visibly in pain and hobbled off the field several times in the second half, but he didn’t come out of the game until the fourth quarter when the outcome was well in hand.
Dylan Young and Ryan Retzlaff were the top targets for Dodge on Saturday. They each had eight catches and two touchdowns and were over 160 yards receiving.
The SOU defense also had an outstanding game, racking up five sacks and three interceptions as held the Lights to just seven points through the first three and a half quarters.
The Raiders are back at home next week as they host Montana Western at Raider Stadium at 1:00 PM
