Radiation Traces Found In Oregon Tuna

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State researchers have found traces of radioactive cesuim in west coast albacore tuna and they say it’s a result of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami that hit the Oregon coast.

Federal and university scientists collected and tests fish caught off the west coast before and after March 2011. They say the amount found is too small to harm people.

The OSU team’s findings are in line with work by researchers in California who found radioactive traces in blue fin tuna.
