WHITE CITY, Ore. – The public is getting a chance to speak out about a plan that would drastically change the Highway 62 corridor.
The Oregon Department of Transportation held an public forum Wednesday night to allow people to ask questions about the project, which would create an expressway from Interstate 5 in Medford to Dutton Road in White City.
The project is intended to reduce traffic on Highway 62 and cut down on crashes. The project is being funded in part by $100 million from the Jobs and Transportation Act.
At Wednesday’s meeting, ODOT representatives shared the potential impacts the project could have on noise, the environment, traffic, businesses and nearby homes. ODOT will be taking public comments until Oct. 29, and could use them to make changes as it moves ahead with the project. They hope to begin work in 2014.
