PENDLETON, Ore. — As the investigation continues into a deadly bus crash in northern Oregon last week, newly released information reveals the tour bus company involved was cited at least twice before for safety violations.
On December 30th, nine passengers died and thirty-eight were hurt when a bus skidded on ice on Interstate 84 near Pendleton, crashed though a guardrail and tumbled down a steep embankment.
The Canadian company received citations in both 2010 and 2011 for serious violations of motor coach rules. Among the violations were failure to investigate drivers’ backgrounds, and failure to regularly inspect push-out windows. The crash is still under investigation.
