WASHINGTON, D.C. — We have watched the back and forth between the President and House Speaker over the last week, but today’s news conference comes just hours after sharp words from House Speaker John Boehner.
“By refusing to negotiate Harry Reid and the President are putting our country on a pretty dangerous path. Listen, there’s never been a president in our history that did not negotiate over the debt limit. Never,” said the House Speaker.
President Obama says there are enough Republican and Democratic votes in the House to end this shutdown immediately.
However, this doesn’t mean a vote will happen any time soon, because these Republicans have not given any indication that they’ll force John Boehner to bring a continuing resolution to the House floor.
