NEAR WHITE CITY, Ore. — Grayback Forestry is burning 143 acres of land west of White City as part of a prescribed burn.
The burn is meant to restore native plants and wildlife. Despite fire season’s early start date, forestry officials say the current fuel conditions are ideal to safely burn the area.
The controlled-burn is also set to create a wildfire buffer for surrounding landowners. Residents can expect to see smoke during the late evening and morning ours for a few days.
