NEAR MURPHY, Ore. — An early morning crash outside Grants Pass sends one man to the hospital with serious injuries.
Oregon State Police say before 6 a.m., a man was driving north on Highway 238 toward Murphy when he saw two downed trees blocking the road. Police say the driver tried to stop the car, but crashed into one of the trees.
Neighbors heard the crash and were able to pull the driver to safety before the car caught fire. He was air lifted to OHSU in Portland with serious head injuries.
The fallen trees had taken down power lines, and crews worked for several hours Thursday morning to restore power and reopen the road to traffic.
