Possible Water Curtailment

Ashland Water CurtailmentASHLAND, Ore. — The city of Ashland is starting to prepare for a possible drought.  The city said it’s likely a water curtailment could be initiated within the coming weeks.

Currently, the reservoir is full and more water is coming in than going out, but this could all quickly change depending on the weather.  Ashland is urging residents to start taking precautions, even though it is still early.

“At this point, we would strongly suggest that people not plant annuals… that they not put in new landscaping… that they not plant anything that is going to require water in the late summer because we can’t guarantee water is going to be available,” said Dave Kanner, Ashland City Administrator.

The city offers free irrigation system evaluations, and low-flow shower heads and faucets to those trying to conserve water.
