Continued heat this week with the potential to break some record high temperatures! With northern California seeing some temperatures close to 110 degrees and the Valley seeing highs this week near 106 degrees means records may be broken. Accompanied by the hot temperaturs will be areas of smokey and hazy skies across all inland areas for at least the next couple of days. Northern California as well as eastern Oregon have a chance for thunderstorms this entire week with the better chances moving in Thursday through Saturday. In fact, across the area Friday and Saturday there will be the chance for thunderstorms as moisture from tropical storm Hector gets caught up in the southwest monsoon and is advected into our atmosphere. The best news about any thunderstorms later this week and weekend is there should be plenty of rain brought in which hopefully will help out firefighters across the area.
While fire danger level is at a high today, it may be bumped up to extreme later this week due to the hot and dry conditions.
Remember to stay hydrated, stay cool and try to avoid the heat of the day; and don’t forget about your furry friends, they need to stay cool too!
