SALEM, Ore. — A bill proposed in Salem might make things easier for fisherman and hunters throughout the state.
House Bill 22-52 would allow the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to establish multi-year licenses. Currently, fisherman and hunters must apply for an annual license every year.
The proposed changes could possibly come with a discounted price for buying a multi-year license. Local outdoor sportsmen say it would make things easier, so they can just pick up their rod and reel and go.
“I’ve been fishing down south in California this winter and I haven’t fished here yet. I was about to go out the other day and realized I didn’t have my license., so it would make a difference for sure,” said avid fisherman Jason Haley.
The proposed bill was at the request of Governor Kitzhaber and is currently awaiting its first reading in the Senate.
