Portland Mom Unhappy With Arrest Policy

Arrest PolicyPORTLAND, Ore. — A Portland mother is looking to change the way police conduct arrests after her 9 year-old daughter was taken away in handcuffs.

She says her daughter got into a fight with another 9 year-old at the boys and girls club. A couple of days later, officers came to her home, put her daughter in handcuffs and took her away in a patrol car. The mother says the officers were bullies and wants  the policy to be changed. She says she doesn’t want other families to have to suffer.

Latoya Harris, the mother of the girl, told the board, “My daughter has never been the same after this. We’re talking about a straight-A, spunky, sassy, sensitive girl who now is sad and angry.”

Police officials say according to policy, the officers did not do anything wrong, but do agree that their actions were excessive.

A 9-year-old in handcuffs?!? What are these bully military-style police so afraid?? Police have become standing armies and the brutality just gets worse. What will it take to stop these thugs from their heinous crimes?? We need to stand up and demand the end of this type of ‘law enforcement’ as it is anything but sane.
