Port Orford Tsunami Clean-Out Continues

PORT ORFORD, Ore. – The harbormaster at Port Orford says fishing fleet operators are planning to take harbor clean-up into their own hands.

Heavy silting from last year’s Japanese tsunami is clogging the boat basin and there’s not federal funding for dredging. So, boat operators plan to line up near the mouth of the harbor and use the boat propellers to wash the sand away.

They are waiting for the extreme low tide which should be about the middle of December.
