Police Search for Hit-and-Run Suspect

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A 5-year-old Grants Pass girl has been life-flighted to Portland after being dragged through an intersection under a car. Officers say the driver took off.

It happened before 8 a.m. on 9th and North Riverside. Police say a woman was walking her daughter to school. As they were crossing the intersection, a man driving eastbound on Riverside,  turned northbound to 9th Street and hit the little girl.

The girl was transported to Three Rivers Hospital then life-flighted to a Portland hospital. She has multiple fractures to her skull and arms.

“I would assume if you’re life-flighted, it’s a pretty serious condition. I don’t have the specifics. I do know that she had injuries to her arm and to her head,” said Lt. Dennis Ward, with the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dull, black-colored GMC Jimmy with a spare tire on the back. The driver is a white man, possibly in his 30’s and was last seen wearing a baseball cap.
