Police Search For Ghoul-Dressed Burglar

SHADY COVE, Ore. — A man caught on surveillance dressed in a Halloween costume is suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from two different stores in Shady Cove.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the two separate burglaries that occurred on July 27 and July 28 this year. The Sheriff’s Office says two businesses, Bargains on the Rogue and Minimall, were burglarized at some point during the night. Surveillance video at one of the businesses caught a suspect forcing his way into the store wearing what officials describe as a Halloween ghoul costume.

Bargains on the Rogue was hit the first night, where officials say more than $10,000 in jewelry was taken, including 100 rings, 50 necklaces, 15 gold watches, 30 bracelets and 60 pairs of earrings. The next night, the suspect burglarized Minimall and got away with more than $6,000 in items, including an antique sword, several knives, and miscellaneous property and items including fishing tackle.

The Sheriff’s Office released a picture of what they say the costume looks like, although they say he did not carry a sword.
