MEDFORD, Ore. – For dozens of people this New Year’s Day, waking up is sobering.
Oregon State Police troopers made 39 DUII arrests across the state this New Year’s holiday, including three in Central Point, three in Grants Pass, and two in Klamath Falls.
The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety caught two people and Medford Police arrested seven people. In Medford, that’s up two from last year.
“You would think it would be a little slower, but seven is above average,” said Medford Police Sgt. Derek Parks. “Definitely for a normal night and a weekend night, so New Year’s Eve we tend to arrest a lot of DUI’s.”
Officers responded to a crash on the 1800 block of Roberts Road for an alcohol-related crash. They say the intoxicated driver ran into a parked car. The driver was uninjured.
