MEDFORD, Ore. — A homeless man is in critical condition after being attacked and police may never know who did it.
On Monday morning, a passerby saw 39-year-old Larry Singleton sitting at a bench, bleeding from the head and called 911. Paramedics transferred him to the hospital where they discovered multiple injuries. He had several fractures to the skull and neck, as well as injuries to his upper body.
Police say Singleton is in critical condition. They’re not sure if he’ll remember what happened. Detectives are going out to the homeless community to see if they have any information.
“That’s what’s so frustrating. We haven’t been able to talk to him and figure out what happened. He’s been severely beaten. We’re not even sure if he’s going to make it for certain. And if he does, his quality of life may never be the same and if he does pull through this, we’re not sure if he’s going to even give us a statement or recall the incident,” said Medford Police Lt. Mike Budreau.
Singleton is known to law enforcement since 2008. He has been cited for disorderly conduct and drinking in public, but he has no history of drugs.
