Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run

Suspect Injures and Threatens PoliceNEAR CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — A hit-and-run near Cave Junction has claimed the lives of two people, and now Oregon State Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver.

The incident was reported at 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday. Two people were struck by a vehicle on Highway 199 near milepost 30 in the 27000 block area.

Oregon State Police say 21-year-old Jarred Houston and 41-year-old Robert Calvin were involved in a physical fight in the southbound lanes. A driver hit the two Cave Junction men and then took off without stopping.

The suspect vehicle is described as light colored, possibly beige or tan, 1980’s style single cab Toyota pickup with canopy and front end damage. It was reported to have left the scene southbound.
