Police Explore Leads on Attempted Kidnap

Fairview Avenue GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Grants Pass detectives are ruling out a suspect in Medford who was arrested for an attempted kidnapping.

Last Monday, 47 year-old Robert Jones was arrested for an attempted abduction of a 5-year-old boy on Grape Street in Medford. A grand jury dropped the kidnapping charge on Thursday. Medford Police say Jones’ car was similar to a car reported in Grants Pass in a similar incident two weeks ago.

An 8-year-old boy walking on Fairview Avenue in Grants Pass reported that a man pointed a gun at him and told him to get in his car. Police are still looking for that man.

Instead, investigators say they are looking into other leads through tips.

They are looking for a  dark-skinned man in his 40 to 50’s with dark hair and a goatee. They say he also has a ninja-style tattoo on his left forearm. He was last seen driving a red, Dodge Challenger with a black stripe down the middle of the car.
