Police Collect Prescription Drugs

MEDFORD, Ore. — Police in Southern Oregon took part of a nationwide effort to combat prescription drug use on Saturday.

Medford Police, Grants Pass Police and Klamath Falls Police Departments all collected expired or unused prescriptions from local residents. Officers say turning the medication over to them is one of the safest ways to dispose of it.

The event at Medford’s City Hall also served as an opportunity for people to trash their personal documents.

“A lot of times people will just dispose of their documents in with all their personal info in the trash or recycling and obviously people can end up getting access to that and using it against them,” said Sergeant Brent Mak with Medford Police.
