CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Oregon State Police (OSP), Medford Police, Central Point Police and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department were led to an incident near 2nd Street in Central Point Sunday evening.
Two people are now in custody. Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies say it started with a report of a man menacing with shotgun in Gold Hill. Police are still investigating that part of the incident. But when police located the vehicle involved, the suspect and another woman reportedly drove away at a high rate of speed from officers on patrol. During the chase, more law enforcement agencies joined the effort.
The suspect allegedly crashed into an OSP vehicle before the arrests near South Haskell Street. Police say the sheriff’s deputy vehicle used a special maneuver to stop the car. Police say the suspect fled the vehicle and went into a nearby home on Second Street. He did not know anyone inside of that home. The second female suspect stayed in the vehicle and police arrested her.
Police say officers set up a perimeter around the house on Second Street and the suspect surrendered peacefully. Police say both subjects are in the Jackson County Jail facing drug, property damage and trespassing charges.
The investigation is ongoing. Police did not release the names of the suspects at this time. Both subjects had warrants for their arrest. There were drugs found in the vehicle, according to police.
