Plan Reviewed for Josephine County Fair

joco fairGRANTS PASS, Ore. — A marketing plan to pull the Josephine County Fairgrounds out of the red and put it on a sound financial footing is getting a review by county commissioners.

Fair Manager Mary Grove and Volunteer Planner Linda Bradley appeared before commissioners on Thursday to lay out plans for hiring a professional marketing manager to sell the fairground’s virtues statewide.

Commissioners have some $20,000 in state economic development funds that could be used to help hire “Five O’clock Marketing” of Medford.

“I’m not sure if the fairgrounds, in its whole history, has really ever had this kind of energy before, where it’s always thinking together. You know, the parts and pieces are all there,” said Linda Bradley.

“I think pretty much right now we know where we are. Our dollars–our numbers are real now,” said Mary Grove.

Board Chairman Simon Hare says he wants to see evidence the fair board is coordinating with other county agencies to leverage their marketing dollars.

A decision on the marketing grant money is expected December 30th.
