CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Jackson County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man for taking off in a pizza delivery truck and leading them on a chase through Medford and Central Point.
Friday night, a driver for Angelo’s Pizza made a delivery at a friend’s house in west Medford on Clover Lane. While dropping off the pizza, the suspect apparently got in the car and drove away toward Jacksonville.
The driver then got in his friend’s car and followed the man until police were able to catch up moments later. The suspect topped out at 50 miles an hour during the chase before running over spike stripes near Jewett Elementary School in Central Point.
“He tried to hit our cars, he did hit a Jacksonville police vehicle. We ended up getting him into a curb where the truck stopped; he bailed out of the truck, threw his phone to the ground and ran towards the Albertson’s in Central Point,” said Jackson County Sheriff’s Office official Brendan Dodge.
The suspect was later identified as 28-year-old Teddy Wayne Peckham, identified by the sheriff’s office as a Medford transient. The sheriff’s office says Peckham was lodged in the Jackson County Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Motor vehicle, Unauthorized Entry to a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Hit and Run, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Theft 2 and Criminal Mischief 2. His bail was set at $94,000.
