PHOENIX, Ore. — Thursday night, Phoenix hosted the first of several meetings planned to discuss marijuana dispensaries in the city. Speakers representing both sides of the debate talked to the crowd.
Supporters continued to emphasize the medical benefits of the drug while detractors are concerned about marijuana’s negative effects on a persons decision making ability. Those who came to the meeting were given the opportunity to ask questions and make comments to the council and the crowd.
Phoenix currently has a four month moratorium on providing business licenses to dispensaries. The mayor hopes the city council can use meetings like the one held Thursday night to help make an decision on whether to issue licenses after the moratorium expires.
