Shooting Suspect Speaks to Police

6-8 jbo shootingMEDFORD, Ore. – A shooting suspect showed up to the Medford Police Department to provide a statement regarding his involvement in a weekend shooting.

Police say an argument between two men led to one trying to shoot the other in the face. The shooting occurred on Mace Road at around 1:45 Saturday morning.

Police say the suspect tried to shoot the victim in the face with a handgun. The victim says that shot missed, lightly grazing him causing minor head injuries that didn’t require medical attention.

The victim was still on the scene when the police arrived, but the suspect had fled on foot. Police collected a shell casing on scene.

“It doesn’t sound like it’s a random act, it sounds like these two knew each other,” said Medford Police Sergeant Kerry Curtis. “Uncertain what the dispute was over, it was a verbal argument.”

Police say the suspect came into the police station Sunday morning. Soon after, officers released him. Officers aren’t releasing names of the involved parties because the investigation is still pending.
