SAMS VALLEY, Ore. – Just after midnight fire crews responded to a fully involved house fire on Michael Road in Sams Valley.
One person was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape unharmed. The home, however, has been determined to be a total loss, leaving the homeowner homeless.
Units from both Jackson County Fire District Three and Four responded to the scene and officials say the location of the house complicated fighting the fire.
“The challenges as always in our rural areas is just water supply. We were able to get tenders on the road right away,” said the Battalion Chief of Fire District Three. “ So, it was just a matter of getting out here and protecting our exposures immediately.”
Fire officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
