If you’re looking to get in the swing of fall, there are several events this weekend that could get you in the right spirits.
For more than 20 years the Harvest Festival in Jackson County has highlighted the bounty Southern Oregon offers and this year is no different; it’s a grape stomping, chili cooking, pie eating, pumpkin launching good time! In the center of it all is the largest beer garden between Portland and Sacramento as part of the Southern Oregon Beer Fest. The events and booths open Friday night with live music and the fun continues both tomorrow and Sunday. Here’s a tip: a canned good will get you two dollars off entrance fees Friday night.
A short drive to Lake of the Woods will have you enjoying the sights and sounds of nature and classic cars. Saturday is the resort’s Second Annual Car Show, but the events, including a dinner and a vintage movie under the stars, start Friday night. If you want to make a weekend, try out one of the cabins with current special rates.
Thousands of little rubber duckies will fall into the Rogue River, racing to the finish line Saturday at noon at Riverside Park in Grants Pass. 8,000 ducks have been sold for the Rogue Valley Duck Derby and they are hoping to sell 2,000 thousand more. Friday at 6:00 p.m., the duck buying stops. The list of prizes is as impressive as ever, with a grand prize of $15,000 toward a new car.
