Champion Raceway in White City is burning out for breast cancer.
The Southern Oregon Cancer Awareness Foundation and Champion Raceway are teaming up to honor breast cancer survivors and those currently fighting the disease with a drag racing event on Friday night.
Gates open at 5 p.m., races start at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; $8 for ages 9 to 14; 8 and under are free. Proceeds will go toward post mastectomy garments and travel expenses for local women in treatment.
The Medford Jazz Festival is swinging into town to light up Southern Oregon with hot jazz and more.
With sixteen bands and four venues, the longest running jazz festival in the region is featuring a lineup of both local and national bands for three days music and dancing.
From Dixieland, zydeco and swing to jump-jive and rockabilly, jazz lovers are sure to find the style that will get their feet moving to the beat. The Medford Jazz Festival runs Friday through Sunday.
Ghosts, goblins and other scary characters will be cropping up this weekend at Hanley Farm.
This Saturday and Sunday, head out to the historic Hanley Farm for the Annual Scarecrow Festival. You and your family can make your own scarecrow, then stroll through scarecrow lane so you can vote for your favorite.
There will also be pumpkin painting, apple bobbing, music, food and tours of the Hanley farmhouse. Scarecrow kits are just $10, farmhouse tours are $3. The scarecrow festival is Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Community Safety Fair, Home Depot in Grants Pass
Home Depot in Grants Pass is hosting a community safety fair on Saturday. Look for the Oregon State Police bomb robot, a live demonstration of the effectiveness of sprinkler systems, and a Mercy Flights helicopter landing.
There will also be a free raffle for prizes including kids’ bicycles, gift certificates and more. The community safety fair is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grants Pass Home Depot. Admission is free.
