It’s the icing at the top of the holiday season kicking off this weekend at the Craterian Theater and there is no shortage of opportunities to check out handcrafted gifts and tasty baked goodies. The Tenth Annual Gingerbread Jubilee brings together talented artists, bakers and designers in the ultimate gingerbread showdown.
On Friday night, it’s the gingerbread gala featuring food, wine and a variety of great getaways, merchandise and some spectacular gingerbread creations available for the silent auction. Reservations are required. Then starting on Saturday, everyone is invited to enjoy viewing gingerbread designs from simple to elaborate. The public viewing runs saturday through Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., then next Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3.
There are several holiday craft sales and bazaars open this weekend for those looking for the perfect handcrafted gift. The Medford Armory is the place to be for the 37th Annual Clayfolk Show and Sale. Browse through hundreds of pieces of pottery, large and small. See demonstrations from expert pottery artists and check out the kids clay area where youngsters can try their hand at creations in clay. The Clayfolk Show and sale is Friday through Sunday. Admission is free.
On Saturday, you can visit the new Song Church Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale. Look for hand-crafted items, Christmas collectibles and more. This sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 4041 Crater Lake Avenue. Have a sloppy joe or hot dog while you’re shopping at the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center on Hanley Road on Saturday. A large variety of craft items, food, plants and baked goods will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If you’re in Ashland, stop by the Siskiyou School’s Annual Winter Faire. Dip your own beeswax candle, choose a treat in the crystal cookie room and enjoy other food, crafts and activities. The Winter Faire is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 631 Clay Street in Ashland.
