Out & About: First Weekend of June 2012

The town of Gold Hill is coming alive with a colorful, community-wide celebration. Gold dust day in Gold Hill has become a tradition on the first Saturday of June. This year’s theme is “Golden Memories”. The day starts with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by a parade at 10. Activities continue throughout the day, including the haystack scramble, pony rides, and a balloon maze for kids. The entire family can enjoy music and food booths, gold panning and displays of antique tractors, classic cars, carriages and so much more.

The Southern Oregon Riverdawgs are teaming up with Providence Medford Medical Center to make a pitch that could be a lifesaver. “Strike Out Stroke” is the theme of the Riverdawgs’ home field opener on Friday night at Harry and David field. The ‘Dawgs will take on the Healdsburg Prune-Packers. Enjoy a great night at the ballpark, including a very special seventh inning stretch. The game is Friday at 7 p.m. at Harry and David field in Medford.

If curling up with a good book and a cuddly pet is how you like to relax, come to the Josephine county library on Saturday. The library is partnering with the Josephine county animal shelter for “adopt-a-pet” day. You can check out a book and kittens, cats and dogs that are available for adoption. The event goes from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Remember: you can also attend this weekend’s Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo and the grand opening of Rogue Jet Boat Adventures.
