Out & About: August 23, 2012

It’s a rich slice of Americana as seen through the eyes of folk-singer Woody Guthrie. Camelot Theatre in Talent presents “Woody Guthrie’s American Song”.

Follow Guthrie as he travels from the dust bowl to California and east to New York City, telling stories in word and song about the people he meets along the way.

You will be tapping your toes and singing along to familiar tunes, including “This Land Is Your Land”.  Contact the Camelot Theatre in Talent for ticket information.

On Friday night, head out to Agate Ridge Vineyard in Eagle Point for the “Rockin’ At The Ridge” Outdoor Summer Concert from 6 to 9 p.m. David Pinsky and his Rhythm Kings are the featured band. General admission tickets are $8.00, wine club members pay $5.00. Outside alcohol will not be allowed into the event. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Children are welcome with parent supervision.

The Klamath County Fairgrounds is home to a 4-day event honoring American veterans. The Klamath Freedom Celebration’s American Gathering Rally kicked off this morning and runs through Sunday. The centerpiece of the event is “the wall that heals”, a traveling, half-scale replica of Washington, D.C.’s Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial. The wall will be open and free for viewing 24-hours a day through the weekend. Other activities include a childrens area, entertainment, food, and exhibits. Weekend wristbands are $10.00, day passes are $7.00. Some events are free.
