Out & About – AIFF Oscar Gala

ASHLAND, Ore. — The Ashland Independent Film Festival (AIFF) is rolling out the red carpet on Sunday afternoon to celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night.

Film lovers are gathering at the historic Ashland Armory for the annual AIFF Oscar Gala. The Oscar Awards broadcast will be projected on two 30 foot screens. Dinner, dessert, wine, a signature cocktail and noble coffee will be served.

AIFF’s Oscar Night Gala is from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a limited number of tickets are still available.¬†For reservation information, call 541-488-3823 or go to www.ashlandfilm.org. Everything from high tech hunting gear to endangered wild cats are on display at the KDRV and Outdoor Recreation Show.

Headlining the weekend are the White Tigers and other wild cats from the Great Cats World Park. This weekend’s show also features hundreds of exhibits, including new ear plug technology that automatically adjusts to the loud sound of gunfore.

The show, which is sponsored by NewsWatch 12 begins at noon tomorrow at the Jackson County Expo and runs through Sunday. This Saturday, Mt. Ashland is celebrating it’s tradition, Bavarian Night, with a full day of fun on the mountain.

Enjoy great skiing and snowboarding throughout the day and into the night. Check out demonstrations of the latest gear and enter to win one of the raffle prizes. Then from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., get your groove on in the lodge with the rock sounds of “The Lincoln Project”.

At 9:15, the evening ends with a bang as fireworks will light up the sky over the mountain. Ticket sales from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. will benefit the Mt. Ashland Ski Patrol.
