NEAR SISTERS, Ore. — Oregon State Police say a multi-agency investigation is underway into an Oregon State Police-involved shooting along Highway 20 near Sisters in Deschutes County.
OSP says Oregon State Police stopped a vehicle eastbound on Highway 20 near milepost 85 following a driving complaint. During the contact, the male driver pointed a firearm at the trooper and then fled eastbound in the vehicle with troopers in pursuit.
Spike strips were deployed near Sisters and the vehicle turned off Highway 20 onto Harrington Loop Road. After the vehicle came to a stop, shots were reported fired and the male driver was found deceased inside the vehicle. No officers were injured.
Oregont State Police said the person in the vehicle is deceased at the scene but it is too early to confirm if the death was the result of shots fire by officers present.
