OSP Investigates Grants Pass Arson Fire

fire truckGRANTS PASS, Ore. — Oregon State Police are calling a home fire an arson after investigating the scene. It happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday on the 3900 block of Highland Avenue in Grants Pass.

After witness testimony and an investigation, police arrested 44-year-old Darrell Butchko and charged him with arson in the first degree. Rural-Metro Fire Department got the fire out in 15 minutes.

Multiple children were in the home at the time of the fire, but none were hurt. Officials say one animal died in the fire.
