Oregon Wildfire Update

DOUGLAS COMPLEX 5Firefighters continue to battle growing wildfires in Oregon. Governor Kitzhaber has declared a state of emergency for Josephine and Douglas counties. Here’s a rundown of the latest fires.

In Douglas County, the Douglas Complex fires continues to burn near Glendale. The fire has burned 21,000 acres and was 2 percent contained Tuesday morning.

The fires consist of the Farmer’s fire, Milo fire, Rabbit Mountain fire, and the Dad’s Creek fire. The Farmer’s fire has burned 200-400 acres near Grants Pass, the Milo fire has burned less than 20 acres, the Rabbit Mountain fire continues to burn near Middle Creek, and the Dad’s Creek fire continues to burn near Poorman Creek.

Evacuations are in place for residences on McCullough Creek Road, Reuben Road, and Mt. Reuben road in Douglas County, and Poorman Creek Road in Josephine County. An additional four hundred residences are considered threatened.

The Whiskey Complex fires has burned 2,400 acres near Tiller and was zero percent contained Tuesday morning. The complex is made up of the Buckeye fire, Big Brother fire, Whiskey fire, and Smith Ridge fire.

In Josephine County, the Big Windy Complex fire has burned 2,117 acres northwest of Merlin and south of Rogue River. The complex consists of the Big Windy fire, the Calvert Peak fire, and the Jenny fire, which are all zero percent contained.

The Labrador fire has burned 1,050 acres and was zero percent contained as of Tuesday morning. Evacuations remain in place for Oak Flat and Bushy Bar residences.

The Brimstone Fire has burned 1,500-2,000 acres near Grants Pass.

    I hope someone addresses the powers that be that run HellGate Excursions. They are still taking people up river. Whats worse is they are making the kids work in these conditions up at OK Corral where the smoke is way worse than in Grants Pass. All for money. Total disregard for the safety of clients and employees.
