Oregon Wild Opposes Clearcutting Bill

Timber ProposalWASHINGTON D.C. — Leaders from Oregon Wild are heading to Washington D.C. to oppose Senator Ron Wyden’s clearcutting bill.

“Oregon Wild” Executive Director Sean Stevens will speak before the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee next Tuesday.

Stevens says he will encourage Wyden to drop his plan to re-link county funding to clear cut on public lands.

He says a more balanced approach would be to combine sustainable forestry practices with federal funding and reformed county tax rates.
