Oregon Schools Failing ESL Students

SALEM, Ore. — Oregon schools are not getting passing grades when it comes to students who speak English as a second language.

Districts have to meet 3 targets for them to show whether the 60,000 ESL students in Oregon are making adequate progress. Of the 197 school districts, only 19 got passing marks.

102 failed the test altogether and the remaining 76 either have no ESL kids, or too few to be rated.
