Oregon Governor To Sign Debris Plan

SALEM, Ore. — Governor Kitzhaber is expected to sign a plan Tuesday on how to handle Japanese tsunami marine debris washing up on Oregon shores.

The Governor’s task force will propose a plan at Tuesday’s meeting on how NOAA and state agencies will handle the debris. The plan will also address a comprehensive response to the debris’ impact on the Oregon coast.

This is a multi-jurisdictional approach, between local, state, and federal agencies along with non-governmental organizations.
