Open Range Policy Could Change

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ore. — There could soon be a change to the wide open range of eastern Oregon.

Earlier this month, five semi’s on Highway 97 plowed into a herd of cattle, killing 44 of them. Jefferson County Commissioners are considering a reduction in the amount of open range in the county.

O-DOT reports says there’s been 100 collisions with cattle in that area over the past ten years.
